Our cycle tour starts at the height of 1660 meters above sea level from the peak of Mount Lovćen which is called Jezerski vrh. There is the mausoleum (and a burial place) of the last spiritual ruler of Montenegro Petar II Petrović-Njegoš, who is considered to be the most outstanding poet of Serbian and Montenegrin literature.
There is a viewing platform on Jezerski vrh peak with stunning views to the mountains of northern Montenegro, the picturesque Bay of Kotor, Skadar Lake and also the part of Albania. There are two statues of Montenegrin women in front of the entrance of the mausoleum and you can see 28 ton statue of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš inside. Sarcophagus of the ruler is on the lower floor.
The group is given 45 minutes to visit the mausoleum.
The track, which is about 35 km long, descends from the peak Jezerski vrh to the coast and visitors are invited to experience this tour on bikes. There is only one steep rise during the route at the foot of the mountain where cyclists should go up on foot for 500 meters (about 10 minutes).
The first scheduled pause for rest is at the 8th km of the trip. Here the group is able to quietly enjoy the fascinating sea view and take photos of the outstanding scenary.
In the following 3 km the group is offered to take a 30 minutes break and visit a cozy restaurant, where traditional dishes of Montenegro can be tasted (Njeguški pršut (dry-cured ham), Njeguški sir (special cheese, kept in oil) etc.)
After this break there is a 24 km long downhill ride on bicycles to the foot of the mountain right to Kotor.
The whole tour is accompanied by a professional guide with the assistance of well-organized crew. It’s worth mentioning that this tour is absolutely safe and no special fitness condition is necessary.
The tour lasts 5 hours and 30 minutes in average and can be prolonged if at the pleasure of the group.
We сertainly recommend you to take a photo camera or camcorder to have the opportunity to save the memory of unique views of Montenegro.
